Courgette Frit

Courgette Frit. Zucchini is technically a fruit, although it is treated and widely referred to as a vegetable. Zucchinis come in many shapes and a few different colors.

When a fruit has shown it will not produce seeds, the plant. It has a similar shape to the cucumber and is one that I use a lot in soups, but it can be eaten raw, steamed, boiled, fried, or roasted if you so choose. Plant one or two per bag or one per container.

They are part of the cucurbit plant family, which includes squash and cucumbers.

In botany, the zucchini's fruit is a pepo, a berry (the swollen ovary of the zucchini flower) with a hardened epicarp.

Courgettes come in many shapes and sizes. Zucchini is not a fruit but should be treated like one. Poor early-summer weather, with a prolonged cold spell, and few insects results in poor pollination.
